Q: Do we need to supply “original” VAT invoices to VATAmerica?
A: Generally, yes. And by “original”, think of the paper trail that existed before the invention of computers, scanners, pdfs, etc. Also, the “Information” documents slid at night under the hotel room door are not true “VAT invoices” so must be “corrected” by the vendor before use in a VAT refund claim.
Q: For aircraft management companies, how will employee travel VAT recovery measure up against potential refunding of German MOT and French TIC?
A: All companies have different profiles and predominant destinations, but for management companies with regular flights departing France and Germany, total VAT recovery on crew costs typically runs around 3% of your annual excise tax recovery.
As T&E compliance and reporting shifted to electronic platforms, VATAmerica partnered with a cutting edge high-technology firm in Ireland, Taxback International (TBI), to handle T&E VAT recovery for VATAmerica’s aviation (and business) clients.
Since 2015, TBI’s VATConnect platform has served thousands of companies globally including a sizable portion of the Fortune Global 500.
For most clients utilizing the benefits of TBI’s VATConnect, VATAmerica coordinates with TBI to assure timely inclusion of fuel and other aircraft operating VAT charges in the client VAT refund streams managed by TBI.
TBI’s VAT Connect technology maximizes VAT recovery, minimizes human effort and produces meaningful analysis and reporting.
Special VAT Refund Reporting
For all tax refunds, VATAmerica sends Notices of Refund including specialized reports detailing the cash distribution subtotaled by the tail number of the aircraft that incurred the tax. These reports facilitate customer account credits in appropriate cases, promoting customer awareness of the management company’s attention to cost management.
VATAmerica’s European Tax Recovery and Exemption programs have helped hundreds of general aviation and other operators to minimize their European indirect tax costs.
